Full Flavour, Zero Compromise

Too often, decaf is an afterthought—a sacrifice of flavour for a good night's sleep. Not this one. This decaf is a purposeful pursuit of comfort and complexity, proving you don't need caffeine to have a memorable cup.

Grown in the vibrant regions of Cajamarca Tolima, Colombia, by the skilled hands of producer Robinson Vaquiro, this lot of Castillo variety is cultivated at altitudes reaching 1,950 MASL. Robinson's work ensures the bean starts with a naturally rich, full-bodied character.

The Sweet Science: Sugarcane EA Decaffeination

The secret to this coffee's incredible flavour retention lies in the Sugarcane Ethyl Acetate (EA) Process, a method proudly native to Colombia.

  • The Fermented Base: It begins with locally sourced molasses (fermented sugarcane). The natural compound Ethyl Acetate (EA) is extracted from this fermentation—a compound that is also naturally present in ripe fruit and wine.

  • The Gentle Bath: The green coffee beans are submerged in water to swell. They are then gently bathed in a solution of this natural EA.

  • The Flavour Focus: The EA acts as a natural solvent, selectively bonding with and removing 97% of the caffeine, while leaving the coffee's core flavour compounds remarkably intact.

  • The Final Rinse: The beans are steamed and rinsed of all EA residue, leaving behind only the bold, balanced flavour.

The result is a decaf with a story as sweet as its taste.

The Cup: Smooth, Balanced, and Ready for Anytime

This coffee is crafted for your everyday ritual, from your morning mug to your late-night brew. It is a testament to the fact that decaffeination can add to the story, not take away from the flavour.

  • Tasting Profile: Smooth, balanced, and delightfully full-bodied. It’s the essential, comforting taste of quality Colombian coffee.

  • Best For: Everyday drinking, espresso, and that perfect, worry-free late-night cup.

Enjoy the full flavour with the complete freedom of no caffeine.

Story

Five Generations of Coffee Soul

This coffee is the legacy of five generations of knowledge etched into the steep, fertile slopes of Cajamarca and Tolima, Colombia.

For producer Robinson Vaquiro, farming is not just a job—it's an inheritance.

  • 100 Years of Wisdom: From his great-great-grandparents, Robinson received the core knowledge: the secret language of the volcanic soil, the precise moment to harvest, and the instinct to achieve perfection in the Washed Process.

  • The Modern Master: He is the custodian of this deep ancestral wisdom, blending tradition with modern excellence. This multi-generational commitment ensures that every bean—even this exceptional decaf—is infused with a rich, balanced, and uncompromising quality.

When you enjoy this coffee, you are tasting a century of dedication, passed down through the Vaquiro family, culminating in Robinson's final, flawless cup.

This coffee showcases the best of the Castillo variety. In the world of Colombian coffee, few coffees represent innovation and resilience quite like Castillo. This rust-resistant Arabica hybrid emerged from necessity, born out of Colombia's urgent response to coffee leaf rust, a devastating fungal disease that threatened the nation's coffee industry. Far from being a mere agricultural solution, Castillo has evolved into a speciality coffee that showcases how scientific breeding can preserve both sustainability and exceptional flavour.
